About The Position

Ravenscroft is seeking a Lower School Strings Instructor in the Fine Arts Department. This is a full-time, exempt position beginning August 12, 2026. This role is ideal for a passionate and experienced string educator who believes deeply in the musical potential of young learners and is committed to building a joyful, literacy-based strings program for students in Grades K–5. The Lower School Strings Instructor will teach classroom strings, direct the 4th and 5th Grade Orchestra, and collaborate closely with the MS/US Strings Director to ensure strong curricular alignment across divisions. Supervisory Responsibilities: None What You'll Do Teach Lower School string classes (Grades K-5) Recruit and direct the 4th and 5th Grade Lower School Orchestra Design literacy-based, developmentally appropriate instruction rooted in strong string pedagogy Select repertoire and assess student growth through varied evaluation methods Collaborate with Fine Arts faculty on performances and music-related trips Develop and update strings curriculum in partnership with the MS/US Strings Director Maintain instrument inventory and support the private lesson program Participate actively in department, division, and school-wide initiatives A full list of essential functions and additional details will be shared during the interview process. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or Performance Minimum of five (5) years of successful strings teaching experience, including experience with Lower School–aged students Strong string pedagogy knowledge and literacy-based instructional planning Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire young learners Strong communication and collaboration skills Preferred Master's degree in Music Education, Conducting, or Performance Suzuki training or certification Experience conducting Lower School orchestras Experience with curriculum development and alignment across grade levels Evidence of performance or clinician experience at the regional or state level Work Environment & Physical Demands This role is based on Ravenscroft’s campus and includes classroom, rehearsal, and performance spaces. The position requires the ability to move throughout campus, lift and rack chairs and stands, conduct ensembles for extended periods, and communicate effectively with students and colleagues. Requirements
