About The Position

The Lower School Teacher is responsible for the academic, social, and emotional development of students in a classroom setting. This role involves planning and delivering high-quality instruction, managing a classroom environment conducive to learning, and collaborating with families and staff to ensure every student achieves their full potential. Daily working hours: 7:45 a.m. - 3:50 p.m.

Requirements

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Three years of experience teaching, school–aged students preferred.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in classroom technology (interactive boards, learning management systems).
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of child development and pedagogical best practices.
  • Clearances: Must pass all required state and federal criminal background checks and child abuse clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Planning: Develop and implement lesson plans that meet grade level standards in core subjects (Math, Literacy, and Social Studies).
  • Student Assessment: Monitor and evaluate student progress through formal and informal testing; use data to differentiate instruction for varying ability levels.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain high standards of student behavior to create a safe, respectful, and productive learning atmosphere.
  • Professional Collaboration: Participate in team meetings, committee meetings, divisional meetings, professional development workshops, and school-wide committees.
  • Community-Focused: Actively participate in and support campus-wide special events and traditions, including FAMILIES programming, Buddies, Town Meeting, the annual Day of Service, Field Trips, Homecoming, ArtFest, and seasonal community celebrations (e.g., Halloween).
  • Parent Communications: Complete trimester report cards and lead parent-teacher conferences.Develop and maintain communication to families using Canvas. Provide regular updates on student progress and behavioral milestones.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and manage student learning data. Complete before, during, and after school duties as assigned.
  • Professional Standards: Aspiring for Excellence in Teaching & Learning Colorado Academy Faculty and meet all requirements outlined in the CA Employee Handbook. Complete all online Vector Trainings by the first day of school annually.
  • Licensing: Instructors who teach Pre-K students are required to complete licensing professional development in the Colorado PDIS portal. Instructors who teach Pre-K students are also required to have a TRAILS background check on file
