Summary: The Class A CDL Lowboy Driver is responsible for safely transporting and operating semi-trucks with a lowboy trailer throughout the Maryland – DC – VA region to deliver equipment to various job sites.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Class A CDL
  • Must have Class 7B DC Operators License
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience operating a lowboy
  • Must possess a minimum of 2 years’ experience loading/unloading equipment on/off a lowboy
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Applicants must be able to operate Manual Transmission vehicles
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate construction and paving equipment and a variety of vehicles once certified, including proper loading, unloading, securing, and transport of equipment and materials to and from job sites in compliance with company policies, DOT permitting limits, FMCSA cargo securement regulations, and equipment manufacturer guidelines
  • Perform required pre- and post-trip inspections; inspect, clean, and perform minor equipment maintenance or repairs using hand tools, and promptly report equipment issues, incidents, or malfunctions to supervisors and dispatch
  • Read and interpret equipment operator manuals; calculate truck and trailer weights to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Provide hands-on support to crews as needed, work safely on uneven terrain, assist in training new or less-experienced equipment operators, and consistently wear required PPE and proper work attire
  • Maintain flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends, and perform additional duties as assigned
  • May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends
