About The Position

Tarkett Sports Construction Central, a leading construction company specializing in sports facilities, is seeking to add an experienced and reliable Lowboy Driver to our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of equipment, adhering to schedules, and maintaining the truck in good working condition. The Lowboy Driver will work closely with construction teams, site managers, and other drivers to ensure smooth operations and compliance with all relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (certifications from automotive technical schools or vocational training preferred).
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements and a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience driving standard transmission, 18 speed, lowboy truck with Landoll/RGN trailer or similar heavy equipment transport vehicle, minimum 2 years’ experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, vehicle maintenance, and equipment handling.
  • Ability to operate and maintain loading equipment, including ramps and securing devices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a lowboy truck to transport oversized and heavy equipment, machinery, and materials.
  • Ensure proper loading, securing, and unloading of equipment to prevent damage or accidents.
  • Follow all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations while driving.
  • Verify the type, weight, and dimensions of equipment and materials to ensure compliance with transport regulations.
  • Use appropriate techniques and equipment to load and unload items, including ramps, straps, and chains.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the lowboy truck and its components.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment and prevent accidents.
  • Ensure that the load is properly secured and that all safety equipment is used effectively.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulations related to the transport of oversized loads.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning the truck and checking for minor issues.
  • Report any mechanical problems or maintenance needs to the Fleet Manager or maintenance team.
  • Coordinate regular maintenance and repairs to ensure the truck remains in good working condition.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including times, equipment transported, and any issues encountered.
