About The Position

SUMMARY The Lowboy Truck Driver is responsible for operating a truck & trailer for transportation of construction material and equipment. In this position, the Driver will load construction equipment (primarily pavers but may include front end loaders, crusher equipment, fuel tanks, excavators, and any oversized loads) onto trailer and transport to various construction sites. Must be independent, able to schedule selves based on equipment hauling needs throughout the week, and obtain necessary permits. May also work in the yard area to stockpile and move materials as needed. This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of equipment/trucks. Must be able to think critically and use good judgement in order to detect, minimize and eliminate hazards on the road and on construction projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of Lowboy Hauling experience required.
  • Class A CDL with air brakes endorsement required (must maintain valid CDL while employed).
  • Valid state Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Must pass Federal DOT record check (FMCSA Clearinghouse).
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Work well under time constraints and respond positively to change.

Responsibilities

  • Operates truck in safe and professional manner on public highways, roads, in the yard area and at various job sites to deliver equipment and materials.
  • Performs daily pre/post-trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines.
  • Checks fluid levels, tires, lights, and other controls for safe operation.
  • Procures permits, in a timely manner, through applicable agencies.
  • Attaches and removes lowboy and side dump trailers, transfer trailers and tilt/transport trailers to truck as needed.
  • Keeps accurate log of deliveries and completes required paperwork for billing.
  • Load and unload equipment or materials.
  • Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle.
  • Assure product quality to the best of the Driver's ability.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the Manager and/or Maintenance.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures including wearing appropriate safety equipment and using excellent safety practices while visiting job sites per CTI policies, OSHA, and Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
  • Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions.
  • Must keep vehicle in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
