About The Position

Amteck Technologies is currently looking to hire a Technician II. Amteck Technologies specializes in the design, installation, testing, certification and support of structured cabling systems, fire alarms, paging/sound, CCTV and CATV. This is a growing division of Amteck LLC that offers competitive pay, benefits and room for advancement within the company. The Technician 2's fundamental role is to work as part of a team to install, maintain, and repair cabling and devices for low voltage systems. They perform field work under direction, installing quality products in compliance with contractual documents and all applicable codes and standards. Technician 2's can perform job duties independently and provide some training to others, with their work subject to inspection.

Requirements

1-2 years of verified experience with low voltage systems and cabling
Understands the importance of accuracy and demonstrates accuracy in all tasks to reduce waste
Demonstrates ability to meet or exceed task quantity goals assigned with little to no rework
Knowledge of BICSI, ANSI, TIA standards and NEC codes for Low Voltage installations
Must be able to read a measuring tape
Providing personal hand tools needed to perform routine work within 30 days of employment, as per Amteck’s tool list
Demonstrates a basic understanding of customer relationships and the concept of customer satisfaction, with an aptitude for growing that skill
Able to travel to meet customer objectives when needed
Possesses Amteck’s Core Values and demonstrates The Amteck Way in daily work activities, behavior and decision making, including maintaining a strong attendance and arriving on time every day ready to begin work at starting time

Responsibilities

Install maintain and repair devices and cabling of low voltage systems in commercial and industrial buildings
Work independently to install pathways
Understand and adheres to BICSI, ANSI, TIA standards and NEC codes for low voltage installations
Understand and use wire maps
Terminate data jacks and mod plugs
Understand specifications of IDF and data closet enclosures
Correctly and safely feed cable, wire and/or wires during installation
Use and maintain test equipment, including operating remote end of testing equipment
Prints labels in adherence with job specs
Keeps detailed records of device and cabling locations
Can properly identify riser versus plenum environments
Can properly install firestopping
Work on a team while providing direction and coaching to those around them on projects, primarily Tech 1’s
Assist with inventory and maintenance of materials of assigned job site
Consistently demonstrate proper use hand and power tools in a safe and cautious manner
Demonstrate ability to read blueprints, schematics, drawing details, wire maps and other drawings
Work with and around other construction trades in a professional, productive and safe manner
Make skillful, controlled manipulations of small objects such as small electronic parts
Perform skilled work while overcoming common environmental challenges such as working in cramped areas, overhead, at heights, and in a variety of weather conditions
Work with others in a cooperative manner; understand and follow direction
Think and act quickly in emergency situations and perform under pressure
Complete tasks accurately and productively, always seeking guidance for any unclear aspects of the task and immediately seeking a new task when the current task is finished
Work to learn job-related material through peers, supervisors, and company training
