The Low-voltage Project Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing on-site activities for low-voltage projects including access control, video surveillance, audio visual, fire alarm, data cabling, networking, and related systems. This role coordinates field installation activities, subcontractors, materials, and schedules to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and in accordance with contract documents and company standards. The successful candidate must possess the knowledge, experience, and leadership ability to work professionally with project managers, design engineers, customers, subcontractors, and other trades while directing field personnel and coordinating construction site activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED required; technical training in electrical, electronics, or low-voltage systems preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working on commercial construction job sites coordinating multiple trades.
  • Experience installing low-voltage systems such as access control, video surveillance, audio visual, fire alarm, or structured cabling systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of construction site safety practices and OSHA guidelines. OSHA10 required; OSHA30 strongly preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, project managers, engineers, and field personnel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to satisfy requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company.
  • Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
  • Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
  • Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for employer-based sponsorship currently or in the future.
  • Pre-hire requirements include a drug test, a driving report, evidence of insurability and a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all on-site installation activities, ensuring work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, schedule, and safety requirements.
  • Participate in site assessments, site preparation, layout, and coordination with other trades.
  • Read and interpret installation drawings, system riser diagrams, and construction documents.
  • Coordinate scheduling of technicians, subcontractors, materials, and equipment to maximize productivity and minimize delays.
  • Monitor installation progress and identify potential issues related to schedule, design, or constructability, and communicate them to the Project Manager.
  • Assist the Project Manager with managing project scope, schedule, and labor plan while providing regular updates on project progress.
  • Maintain high standards of organization, safety, and regulatory compliance on all job sites.
  • Conduct regular inspections of work in progress to ensure installations meet company quality standards, project specifications, and industry codes.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of work completed, materials used, and labor hours.
  • Support project closeout activities including punch lists, system turnover, and final documentation.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers, contractors, vendors, and internal team members to provide project updates and resolve issues.
  • Provide direction and leadership to field technicians and subcontractors on site.
  • Help ensure a positive customer experience during installation and project turnover.
  • Support service team with site visits, system evaluations, and customer requests when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
