About The Position

Canyon State Electric is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Low Voltage Estimator to join our growing technologies division. This role focuses on preparing accurate and timely estimates for commercial low-voltage systems, ensuring alignment with company sales goals and project profitability. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of low-voltage systems, including fire alarm, structured cabling, access control, ip camera, and other related technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects while building strong client relationships and contributing to the company's success.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in low-voltage estimating or similar roles, with a focus on commercial projects of varying sizes.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage systems, including fire alarm, structured cabling, access control, ip cameras, and other technology solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with electrical drawings, plans, and terminology specific to low-voltage applications.
  • Proficient in estimating software systems, with experience in platforms such as Accubid, Connest, or similar systems.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Bluebeam.
  • Exceptional organizational and mathematical skills, with great attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, field personnel, and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines without sacrificing quality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed takeoffs for low-voltage systems, including fire alarm, structured cabling, access control, ip cameras, and other technology solutions.
  • Develop conceptual estimates with minimal design information to guide clients during early project stages with accuracy and clarity.
  • Accurately identify expenses related to low-voltage applications, including material costs, labor, and vendor pricing.
  • Ensure takeoff accuracy and timeliness to meet company profitability and sales goals.
  • Collect and organize all bid information for input into historical cost database platforms, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Review milestone documents to identify scope changes and develop pricing for value engineering opportunities.
  • Track and report individual takeoffs, awarded contract percentages, and overall sales contributions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and trade partners to foster trust and repeat business.
  • Actively follow up with clients on submitted bids to ensure timely feedback and further project discussions.
  • Collaborate with the startup process to ensure accurate and organized turnover of project details to the field team.
  • Assist field operations with pricing for change orders as needed.
  • Work with the estimating team to enhance workflows, systems, and databases for low-voltage estimating.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in the low-voltage industry to ensure competitive and innovative project solutions.
