Sarasota County’s Planning and Development Services is hiring a Lot Drainage Specialist (Compliance/Maintenance Specialist III) to support safe, compliant land development throughout our community. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of fieldwork and plan review, takes pride in detail-oriented work, and wants to make a direct impact on local infrastructure and stormwater systems. You’ll collaborate with engineers and inspectors while helping ensure projects meet County, state, and federal standards. We’re seeking candidates with a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least 4 years of related experience, including 2 years of inspection experience. Preferred qualifications include a degree in engineering or a related field and stormwater inspector certification (or willingness to obtain the certification within 6 months — we’ll help!). If you’re ready to grow your career and serve your community, apply today. In this role, you will... Review and approve drainage plans, right-of-way permits, and culvert permits. Evaluate lot drainage plans submitted with building permits for compliance with the Unified Development Code. Conduct on-site inspections of private, public, and County-owned properties.
