About The Position

Description Posted Until a Viable Pool of Applicants Has Been Established EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A high school diploma and 1-2 years of customer service experience working in a fast paced, direct customer contact environment. Must have good written and verbal communications skills. Must be computer literate, demonstrating proficiency in data input and verification of accuracy. Must have the ability to understand basic asset/inventory management concepts and maintain accurate computerized records. A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a warehouse or inventory control facility as well as one to two years of asset management experience is preferable. Additional education could qualify as a substitution for years of experience on a year-for-year basis. COMPUTER SKILLS Basic understanding and knowledge of personal computers and MS Office software, especially Excel and Access. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Inventory/Asset management skills highly desirable. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinates with representatives from Bus, Rail, Facilities, Station Services, Mobility, Police and other stakeholders, as required, to locate, retrieve, receive and track items found on the MARTA system. May serve as a courier to pick-up items found at rail stations and garages. Couriering may occur by rail or through operation of an Authority owned non-revenue vehicle. Maintains an accurate inventory of items lost and found on the MARTA system. Ensures internal controls are in-place and appropriately followed to safeguard items until they are retrieved by the owner or disposed of in accordance with company policy. Inspects items found for identifying information and documents attempts to contact the owner. Retrieves voicemail messages and web-based customer inquiries regarding lost items. Logs-in messages and inquiries matches them to items found and turned-in to the Lost and Found Office and responds appropriately. Composes and provides email communication to customers inquiring about lost items via the online portal. Tracks aged inventory daily and follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for the proper disposition of found items that have been in inventory for 30 or more days and have not been retrieved by the owner. This includes proper disposal of sensitive items such as photo identification, credit cards and personal documents, etc. Evaluates, establishes, and maintains a list of approved charitable organizations to which items such as books, eyeglasses, electronics, etc., may be donated. Performs other duties as required. This includes redeployment to provide operational support for Large Scale Special Events in accordance with MARTA personnel procedures. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Candidate must satisfactorily pass a customer service proficiency assessment, written and grammar skills assessment; a credit and criminal background check to be considered successful. Must be able to work weekends and evenings hours as required. Must be dependable, self-directed and exhibit the ability to work independently in the absence of the supervisor/manager.
