About The Position

Oversee the activities of the Loss Prevention department within a single retail location. Provide a safe and secure environment for our team members and guests. Manage Security / Loss Prevention personnel to protect the assets and proactively seek to detect / remedy instances that may potentially lead to loss or injury. Work closely with store operations to decrease sales reducing activities and safety related losses. Maintain a professional liaison with local, state, and federal agencies (i.e., Law Enforcement, Fire, and OSHA). Investigate instances of injury, loss, and damage.

Requirements

  • 5 – 10 years of experience or college degree with 2 – 5 years’ experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Loss Prevention, Security, and investigative concepts.
  • Knowledge of corresponding State statutes and civil law.
  • Sound decision making and analytical skills.
  • Ability to lead, work and function within a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal and managerial skills.
  • Ability to delegate, prioritize and juggle many tasks

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and review (preparation) reporting of general liability and workman’s compensation incidents to ensure a clear factual account of incidents occurring on facility grounds.
  • Promptly coordinate and review investigations and reporting of injuries, safety issues, asset loss/ damage, and procedural violations.
  • Actively survey and assess designated location to ensure a proactive approach in reducing the probability of injury, loss/damage of Stew Leonard’s assets.
  • Audit receiving and front-end functions to maximize profitability through the deterrence and detection of dishonest activity and adherence to internal security standards.
  • Ensure adherence to internal safety standards via OSHA based auditing and active cooperation with the Safety Committee.
  • Ensure all reports maintain certifications as defined by internal, State, and Federal guidelines
  • In collaboration with Human Resources, recruit, retain, train, and promote team members in adherence with staffing goals.
  • Ensure scheduling of team members is adequate based on the needs of the location and within budgetary goals.
  • Provide timely feedback by completing and delivering comprehensive performance chats and annual performance appraisals; make pay recommendations based on performance.
  • Address disciplinary issues in a timely fashion.

  • Follows and enforces SOP’s
  • Educates operations and new team members in areas of safety, security, and loss prevention.
