About The Position

As a technical expert within the Loss Control team, this role provides direction to support profitable growth and risk based decision making across the division. The Loss Control Specialist serves as an internal expert within the Transportation industry, ensuring high quality risk assessments, data collection, and analysis.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in loss control, risk management, or a closely related discipline, including significant work within a defined technical specialty in Transportation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in analyzing exposures, controls, operational processes, and regulatory requirements relevant to the specialist’s industry.
  • Knowledge of risk selection, loss drivers, improvement planning, claims trends, and applicable compliance or safety standards.
  • Leadership capabilities including coaching, mentoring, and developing technical talent.
  • Interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to internal teams and external partners.
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Proven knowledge and skills in property/sprinkler protection

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Loss Control, Safety, or related field
  • Documented advanced training in property/sprinkler protection
  • CFPS or related designation

Responsibilities

  • Lead and enhance division wide risk evaluation processes by improving the quality, consistency, and usability of loss data.
  • Perform comprehensive risk assessments on new and existing accounts using defined criteria and industry specific methodologies.
  • Develop, maintain, and refine guidelines that support effective risk selection, underwriting decisions, and identification of improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with underwriting partners to provide timely reviews of prospective accounts and help inform pricing, coverage considerations, and risk acceptability.
  • Build and maintain a network of external consultants or industry specialists who support field surveys, technical guidance, and professional development of field staff.
  • Review and validate survey reports and related documentation from field associates and external partners to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with required standards.
  • Partner with Product Management to develop and deliver training related to exposure identification, control measures, coverage concerns, and data analysis practices.
  • Support ongoing training and development of Loss Control associates, including joint field visits, case reviews, and mentorship to advance technical competency in specialty areas.
  • Assist in designing, refining, and delivering enterprise wide training for underwriting, claims, and other functional teams on industry specific exposures and control strategies.
