About The Position

Perform field inspections on commercial buildings. Effectively evaluate property and casualty risks and controls for current and prospective policyholders. Describe insureds’ operations and procedures for mitigating property and casualty loss exposures. Verify building construction classification and assess condition of building components to include roof, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection for habitational and commercial properties. Evaluate premise liability and contractual risk transfer exposures. Effectively communicate risk reduction opportunities to insured stakeholders. Produce concise UW survey reports elaborating on critical findings and including practical recommendations. Collaborate with underwriters in coordination of renewal underwriting surveys and recommendation follow-up. Pursue professional development of skills, knowledge and abilities to include pursuit of designations and industry knowledge. Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field including business, engineering, safety, risk management or 4 or more years experience working in insurance, risk management, property/construction management or a related field.
  • 2 Years’ experience evaluating property and casualty risks.
  • Experience presenting risk improvement opportunities in a manner that achieves customer buy-in and recommendation compliance.
  • Possess familiarity with local and national building and fire codes.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Professional attitude and superior people skills.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle with valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders to investigate properties.
