About The Position

Canton High School is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to join our learning community as a Mathematics teacher for the second semester of the 25-26 school year ( beginning of February until the end of the school year ) . Our mathematics department offers integrated pathways as well as traditional high school math courses in the College Preparatory, Honors/Accelerated, and Advanced Placement levels. JOB SUMMARY Canton High School educators provide well-organized, enriching learning environments in which students can access Massachusetts standards-based curriculum and develop social and emotional skills in a safe and supportive educational environment.

Requirements

  • Valid Massachusetts DESE teacher certification that is appropriate for the grade level and subject area assigned. (Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.)
  • Highly Qualified as per Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
  • Proven ability to relate to a variety of constituencies, including but not limited to administrators, parents/guardians, teachers, students, other school staff
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-organized with strong leadership abilities
  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with Google Suite and other instructional technology platforms
  • Other reasonable responsibilities as determined by the department coordinator and/or building administrators

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional practices that facilitate active learning experiences
  • Develop lesson plans that align with the state standards
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs
  • Use relevant instructional technology to support a variety of learning styles
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development
  • Assign and grade assignments and assessments through a variety of methods
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom and throughout the school community
  • Participate in department and school/staff meetings and professional development sessions
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs
  • Keep up to date with advancements in subject area curriculum, teaching resources, and instructional practices, and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
  • Effectively teach AP Precalculus and Alg2-Precalculus-Statistics (STAG3) courses
