About The Position

Through the DoD SkillBridge Program, GDIT offers transitioning service members the opportunity to gain hands-on training and experience as a Logistics Technician Fellow , supporting enterprise logistics operations in high-impact, mission-focused environments. In this Fellowship, you’ll observe and participate in real-world logistics, inventory, and asset management activities while supporting operational readiness across customer programs. You’ll work alongside GDIT logistics teams and customer counterparts while preparing for a successful transition into civilian logistics, supply chain, warehouse operations, or asset management careers. As a Logistics Technician Fellow , you will train under the guidance of senior logisticians to understand how equipment, materials, and assets are received, tracked, stored, redistributed, and maintained across a large-scale enterprise. Throughout the Fellowship, you will support inventory workflows, distribution activities, data accuracy, material handling, and customer-facing logistics coordination—building the operational, analytical, and organizational skills required for an intermediate-level logistics career. HOW A LOGISTICS TECHNICIAN FELLOW WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: Performing clerical and manual tasks to maintain inventory of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. Receiving, barcoding, inventorying, and assisting with the disposition of assigned equipment. Updating tracking and management databases with accurate asset information. Moving equipment between facilities via pallet jack, push cart, or other approved material-handling tools. Maintaining consumable stock levels and assisting with reorder requests. Supporting customer logistics requirements through analysis, organization, planning, and administration of day-to-day provisioning, spares, maintenance, and repair activities. Conducting or assisting in distribution and network studies to monitor inventory and develop strategies to meet delivery timelines. Participating in special projects, shipping/receiving, inter-plant transfers, barcode assignments, and database maintenance. Supporting annual inventory efforts and learning to account for thousands of accountable items in coordination with security and government logistics personnel. Assisting other work centers in identifying and satisfying logistics requirements. Performing both manual labor (e.g., palletizing/de-palletizing equipment) and computer-based tasks using Microsoft Office applications. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED: Education: BA/BS (or equivalent experience) recommended for post-fellowship employment. Experience: 2+ years of related inventory management or logistics experience preferred. Hands-on logistics analyst or technician experience supporting large-scale operations is beneficial. Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe applications. Familiarity with asset tracking databases and inventory management systems. Ability to perform manual logistics tasks including palletizing/de-palletizing and equipment movement. Skills & Abilities: Strong attention to detail and ability to track multiple logistics tasks simultaneously. Ability to work full days in fast-paced environments using a variety of skill sets. Ability to lift 30 pounds or more and walk between offices/buildings. Ability to access IT equipment in and around office furniture during inventory tasks. Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to perform shipping/receiving, inter-plant transfers, barcode assignments, and database maintenance. Assist other work centers to identify and satisfy logistics requirements. Attention to detail and adherence to established and evolving logistics policies. Valid driver’s license.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of related inventory management or logistics experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe applications.
  • Familiarity with asset tracking databases and inventory management systems.
  • Ability to perform manual logistics tasks including palletizing/de-palletizing and equipment movement.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to track multiple logistics tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work full days in fast-paced environments using a variety of skill sets.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds or more and walk between offices/buildings.
  • Ability to access IT equipment in and around office furniture during inventory tasks.

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • Can participate within the last 6 months of separation or retirement
  • Will receive an honorable discharge
  • Has taken any service TAP/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of the fellowship.
