About The Position

The Valpak Manufacturing Center is 470,000 square feet of automated production located in St. Petersburg, FL and is an integral part of the largest Direct Mail Marketing group in the country. The Logistics Lead/Warehouse Supervisor leads a team of warehouse technicians to ensure all shipments and mailings are completed accurately and timely on a daily and weekly basis. Manages production activities, processes, and performance within the Logistics department. In addition, the Logistics Lead assists other production areas when necessary. Responsibilities include staffing, scheduling, team development, coaching, performance reviews, CPI (Continuous Process Improvement), and input to the budgeting process. The Lead also manages the team to support the Organizational Culture, and company and production goals.

Requirements

  • Applicable knowledge of the Windows Office environment, including intermediate knowledge of Excel. Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to define issues, compile and analyze data, and make decisions that can be applied to the production environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, instructions, and reports.
  • Strong organizational and math skills including the ability to apply these skills to a production environment.
  • Ability to work with internal and external customers across various levels and disciplines through written and verbal communication.
  • Valid driver’s license required or eligible to obtain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time, be able to climb ladders, work at varying heights, and occasionally move/lift up to 40#.
  • Ability to be certified and operate PIT (powered industrial truck).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an understanding of processes, policies, procedures, and technical knowledge as it relates to Logistics and additional functional areas to support production.
  • Manage a designated team to support the Organizational Culture and to meet or exceed defined goals. The Lead also covers and supports other functional teams as required to meet production needs.
  • Coach and develop team members in the areas of critical thinking, problem solving, and process improvement to support operational, strategic, and individual career goals.
  • Participate in the interview and selection process and training and development of the individual team members. Lead and monitor Progression to ensure skill development within the family. Oversee department staffing and team development, coaching, and performance reviews.
  • Utilize systems to run reports, generate, and compile data to support production. Apply process changes to the production environment and promote CPI activities.
  • Monitor production and potential impacts to meeting the delivery schedule. Respond to routine and non-routine issues to meet deliverables according to schedule.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to ensure smooth shift transitions and support production requirements.
  • Partner with the Operations Manager to promote development for the Lead.
  • Accomplish duties using safe work practices and equipment while being responsible for reporting all injuries and observed unsafe conditions. Coach fellow employees on safe work practices as appropriate and contribute to the overall success of the company’s safety program.
  • Perform related work and additional duties as needed or required.
