About The Position

The Logistics Coordinator manages and directs the daily loadout and shipment workflow for a specific location. This role coordinates truck scheduling, carrier performance, and shipment execution while maintaining visibility over order status and delivery timelines. This role serves as the central point of coordination between Sales, Production, Yard operations, Drivers, and Carriers to ensure accurate staging, efficient dispatch, and on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • High School or GED.
  • Demonstration of leadership skills and abilities.
  • Computer literate, Microsoft suite is referred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with complex kinds of customers.
  • Proven track record of individual accomplishment, contribution, and team-based success.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the operational control point between Sales, Production, Yard/Forklifts, Drivers, and Customers to ensure accurate order flow, timely staging, and on-time deliveries.
  • Receive and execute completed, sales-validated orders; escalate significant discrepancies to Sales prior to load planning, while addressing minor operational corrections as needed to maintain shipment flow.
  • Develop and publish the next-day Shipping Board, assigning loads by customer, truck, route, forklift crew, and delivery window to ensure accurate staging and efficient dispatch.
  • Establish shipment priorities and loading sequence to ensure efficient flow and on-time delivery commitments.
  • Appoint forklift operators for each load to be loaded daily and in an organized manner.
  • Direct staging priorities and load readiness in coordination with yard operations.
  • Ensure forklift operators follow all safety protocols during loading and unloading, including proper use of PPE and required safety equipment.
  • Provide shipment schedules and loading priorities to Shipping & Receiving to support coordination of pickup appointments for truckloads and contractors.
  • Identify operational risks or disruptions and adjust shipment plans, schedules, or priorities as needed to maintain delivery performance.
  • Track shipment performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve delivery reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor shipment progress and communicate transportation-related updates or exceptions as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with broker/s and provide all information necessary for correct equipment for pick-up of each load.
  • Seek the best rate for the customer and the company when confirming a truck with either broker.
  • Confirm with carriers’ equipment matches that specified to broker, ex: trailer length, width, style of trailer, waterproof tarps, coil racks, dunnage, chains or any equipment needed for outbound loads.
