About The Position

Parker Towing Company, Inc. in Northport, AL is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to join our Operations team. This is a full-time position working to provide logistic support services to our fleet of vessels and third-party contacts. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, with strong organizational, logistical, and analytical skills, as this position is responsible for the accuracy, efficiency, and retrieval of operational data.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to work rotating weekends and holiday schedule
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Solid computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong cross-functional teamwork, collaboration, interpersonal, with excellent written and verbal skills
  • Self-starter, quick learner, team player, detail-oriented, organized, creative thinker, and ambitious with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Previous marine experience preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with office operations staff, vendors, customers, and vessels to resolve problems and promote vessel efficiency.
  • Enter data into internal software platforms to track barge unloadings, loadings, reconsignments and cargo tonnage information.
  • Monitor vessel movements to proactively drive increased productivity
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Understand specific and unique requirements for barge customers and facilities
  • Make calculated decisions to balance productivity taking into account vessel delays, operational changes, and customer needs
  • Communicate operational requirements or general concerns to Operations Department Manager as required
  • Other duties as assigned
