Novelis North America is seeking a contract professional to support our Logistics team. This role will be responsible for routing Novelis freight and requires a good working relationship between our 3rd party shipping locations and our carrier base. The incumbent will work closely with Novelis Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, plant personnel and will have some customer contact. Please note: this is a contract position with an expected end date of June 1, 2026 – November 30, 2026.

Requirements

  • 4-year College Degree required or 2-3 years experience in manufacturing logistics
  • 1 year of transportation service or transportation management experience
  • 1 year of customer service or client management experience
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • PC literate with emphasis on Word and Excel; ability to do detailed Excel data analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical problem-solving skills
  • Willing to be available after hours and weekends as needed
  • A strong work ethic and willing to work hard to build a long-term career
  • Must be willing to work onsite minimum 3 days per week

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for routing and load coordination of Novelis freight.
  • Manage load building (Using JDA and MPS), dispatch, and tracking of freight. Ensuring timely delivery and adherence to weight compliance standards.
  • Administration for logistics functions, including data maintenance activities and invoice settlement processes.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to mitigate operational challenges, ensuring minimal financial impact on Novelis.
  • Load managing, dispatch, track and trace of freight, and reporting of results
  • Ensure the most cost-efficient carrier, route, and weight compliance
  • Analyze logistical data trends for cost savings and optimization opportunities (e.g. lane cost optimization, load weight optimization, multi-stop load opportunities, awarded carrier performance, etc.)
  • Monitor tender acceptances and declines
  • Monitor Power BI optimization report to spot lane losses and gains.
  • Monitor bid compliance, ensure awarded carriers are hauling bid commitments
  • Explore new methods of transporting material from suppliers and to customers
  • Support Novelis North America Logistics to identify lower cost opportunities
  • Trouble shoot various rating and systems issues on behalf of the logistics team
  • Provide backup to plant logistics load coordinators as necessary
  • Build strong relationships with our carriers, tollers, plants, and internal customers, contributing to the goal of being a Shipper of Choice
  • Own administration for logistics function including data maintenance facilitation and invoice settlement processes including disputes
  • Support logistics/carrier related Environmental, Health, & Safety and onboarding activities as needed
