About The Position

This position is for a Lofting Coordinator III responsible for performing lofting, nesting, and template preparation for projects. The role involves coordinating with Engineering and Production teams to support fabrication processes, including plate and structure planning for hull and outfitting items. Key duties include addressing drawing clarifications, managing part location requirements, and utilizing 3D models to ensure production clarity and alignment with build strategies. The coordinator will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and project documentation efforts. The ideal candidate will possess an Associate or Bachelor's degree in engineering or Naval Architecture and 5-10 years of experience in marine or structural lofting, preferably within a shipyard environment. Proficiency in CAD/CAM tools like AutoCAD, Rhino, and nesting software, along with a solid understanding of ship structure and 3D models, is essential. The role requires strong organizational, communication, leadership, and mentoring skills, as well as the ability to interpret design discrepancies and resolve production issues.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in marine or structural lofting, preferably in a shipyard environment.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in CAD/CAM tools including AutoCAD, Rhino, and nesting software.
  • Solid understanding of ship structure and 3D models.
  • Ability to interpret and troubleshoot design discrepancies.
  • Ability to lead complex layout planning and resolve production issues.
  • Expertise in structural lofting and nesting with various software platforms.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring abilities.
