About The Position

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA. We are seeking a Local Truck Driver to drive a 53’ tractor/trailer with a flat nose cab, dump truck, and yard truck. This role will be responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate transportation of raw materials and finished goods and for loading/unloading your own truck. This position coordinates deliveries, loading/unloading, and product storage while ensuring compliance with work schedules, specifications, and reporting requirements. The driver operates assigned equipment in accordance with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and company policies at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA. Requirements

  • GED or high school diploma.
  • Valid CDL A driver’s license, Forklift Certification, clean driving record, insurable under the company plan, and current DOT medical card (Medical Examiners Certificate).
  • At least 2 years of driving a tractor/trailer experience and able to drive manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended schedule, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early November.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a shipping/receiving or loading dock environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily production plan and workflow by coordinating deliveries, unloading, loading, storage, and transportation activities to ensure compliance with schedules, specifications, and customer/plant requirements.
  • Coordinate the materials, tools, equipment, and transportation resources needed to support operations and ensure smooth execution of daily tasks.
  • Assume ownership of all trucking activities, ensuring safe, timely, and accurate transportation of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Monitor trucking and production-support activities; anticipate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that could cause interruptions or delays. Escalate concerns promptly to the Manager/Supervisor when issues cannot be resolved professionally and on time.
  • Review, verify, maintain production documents, shipping/receiving paperwork, and other required records; ensure timely and accurate reporting of all activity (logs/ELD, DVIRs, load documentation, weights, etc., as applicable).
