Position Overview: The Loan Processor supports the Chicago, IL office of CrossCountry Mortgage. The Loan Processor oversees a full pipeline from application through closing. This role is responsible for maintaining organization, communication, and compliance throughout the loan lifecycle. This position operates within the Central Standard Time Zone working hours to support the Midwest Region.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in mortgage processing.
  • Experience handling conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo, Non-QM, Bond, and other loan products.
  • Experience processing loans independently from initial application through closing.
  • Experience managing high‑volume workloads while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of income calculation, asset review, and guideline interpretation.
  • Detail‑oriented with awareness of compliance requirements.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with a professional and borrower‑friendly approach.
  • Skilled in problem‑solving and anticipating file conditions prior to underwriting.
  • Skilled in follow‑up practices and disciplined documentation.
  • Skilled in developing effective solutions, resolving issues efficiently, and maintaining focus in all situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the LOS platform Encompass and the POS platform Blend, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a pipeline of approximately 35–40 active loans from application through closing.
  • Maintain organization, clear communication, and compliance throughout all stages of the loan lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and submission‑ready files.
  • Adhere to contract deadlines and internal service‑level expectations.
  • Minimize rework by conducting thorough and accurate initial reviews.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Communicate proactively with loan officers, borrowers, and third‑party partners throughout the loan process.
