About The Position

The Loan Officer leads borrower intake, analyzes commercial real estate and community development loans, and manages loan files through closing and servicing. This front-line role balances relationship-building with borrowers and thorough credit analysis. Ideal candidates have commercial real estate finance or CDFI lending experience, work independently, and value accuracy and accountability.

Requirements

  • 4+ years commercial real estate experience
  • 2+ years commercial or CDFI lending experience
  • Experience analyzing real estate transactions and managing loan files
  • Strong financial analysis skills and Excel proficiency
  • Ability to manage multiple projects accurately and independently
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • Professionalism and discretion with sensitive financial information

Nice To Haves

  • Affordable housing or community development lending
  • CDFI or mission-driven lending experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, business, or related field
  • Familiarity with loan servicing software (e.g., DownHome)

Responsibilities

  • Guide borrowers through intake, applications, and discovery calls
  • Analyze borrower and project financials, including budgets and proformas
  • Assess project feasibility and alignment with community lending products
  • Prepare credit memos with loan recommendations
  • Maintain loan files and track pipeline activity
  • Support loan servicing, including draw requests and portfolio monitoring
  • Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate closings
