About The Position

We’re seeking a Loan Accounting Specialist to support our Accounting Department with day-to-day financial compliance and management. As a Loan Accounting Specialist, you will ensure the accuracy of loan financial records by processing payments, reconciling accounts, managing general ledger entries, handling payoffs and adjustments, assisting with reporting, and maintaining compliance with policies and regulations. You will work closely with our Senior Accountant and Operations team to ensure accurate financial records and the resolution of discrepancies. This is a full-time, in-person position with a complete benefits package. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a similar field
  • 2+ years in an accounting or bookkeeping role
  • 2+ years in the home mortgage loan industry
  • Proficient with computer software, including QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Working knowledge of GAAP accounting practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Payment Processing: Accurately post daily payments (ACH, checks, wires) and communicate payment information to borrowers.
  • Reconciliation: Daily reconciliation of loan system balances to the general ledger and bank accounts.
  • Account Adjustments: Post loan-level adjustments, including fees, interest, charge-offs, and recoveries.
  • Reporting: Prepare and review internal and external reports, supporting financial and regulatory filings.
  • Error Resolution: Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and system exceptions.
  • Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with internal controls, policies, and regulations. Complete investor renewals and support annual FHA audit needs.
  • Lock Desk Management: Monitor and manage loan lock requests.
  • Customer Service: Provide support to internal and external stakeholders.
