About The Position

Our Class A Drivers support the operations department by completing daily pick-ups and deliveries of freight in a time-sensitive and professional manner. They are responsible for maintaining accurate, up-to-date records such as Vehicle Inspection Reports, daily manifests, and incident reports. Drivers may also be responsible for loading and unloading freight and for reporting accurate dimensions and weight of freight. California Sierra Express has been serving the air freight logistics industry for over 35 years, operating six freight terminals in CA and one in Reno, NV. The company is an overnight carrier serving international and domestic freight forwarders as a final mile Pick-Up and Delivery agent for shipments traveling globally. The role involves joining a local team of over 60 people dedicated to providing excellent service to customers in the greater Bay area.

Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Must be at least 23 years of age.
  • Minimum of two (2) years commercial driving experience.
  • Clean DMV record (no serious moving violations in the past 5 years)
  • Valid DOT Medical Examination Card.
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and TSA background check.
  • Knowledge of DOT, FMSCA, federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English; verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Hazmat Endorsement Preferred
  • Hazardous materials (HAZMAT) certification, preferred.
  • Experience driving in adverse weather conditions, mountains, and chaining installation.

Responsibilities

  • Consistent attendance Mon - Fri or Tues- Sat is mandatory.
  • Complete assigned route in a timely manner.
  • Practice defensive driving principles and follow all company safety policies.
  • Comply with all laws and regulations relating to driving, transporting and handling of freight including those issued by but limited to The Federal Motor Carrier Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Comply with truck and trailer security requirements as outlined by the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA).
  • Comply with safe work practices as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA)
  • Comply with federal drug and alcohol regulations.
