About The Position

The DLS Case Manager is responsible for providing case management for all types of leave of absence and disability life events. This role involves serving as a single point of contact for employees throughout an entire leave of absence or disability event, ensuring a connected and trusted case management experience.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience as a case manager using case management systems.
  • Experience reviewing cases for eligibility and determining appropriate benefits.
  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources or customer service in a leave and/or disability field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong customer service focus with a high standard.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to changes in scope of work.
  • Strong technical skills and computer aptitude.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and complete work with tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of federal or state Leave and Disability regulations, specifically ADA/ADAAA and FMLA.
  • Experience working with confidential information.
  • Experience providing case management services for a large, multi-state employer.
  • Experience providing guidance on leave of absence, disability plans, accommodations, human resources, benefits, or employee matters.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and respond to inquiries about leave and disability events, benefits, and options available to employees.
  • Serve as a point of contact for 150-200 assigned employees, providing holistic case management services, including reviewing medical documentation to adjudicate leaves in compliance with relevant laws and benefit plans.
  • Leverage duration guidelines, best practice tools, and resources to support oversight of a leave event as appropriate.
  • Critically assess and adjust the case management plan to meet an employee’s changing needs.
  • Address and respond to sensitive situations and troubleshoot issues to remove barriers during or after a leave event.
  • Ensure effective communication during employee-impacting issues and facilitate a smooth return to work for employees.
  • Educate managers and business partners on employee concerns and needs before and after leave.
  • Communicate regular updates to employees and stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
  • Ensure compliance with standard work, federal/state regulations, and company policy.
  • Maintain system records to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
  • Consult, coordinate, and partner with third-party administrators, HR, Safety, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and other departments as appropriate.
