About The Position

Indiana Packers Corporation (IPC), a fresh pork processor, is seeking a Livestock team member for its Delphi, Indiana facility. This position is responsible for the safe unloading, handling, and movement of hogs within the barns and facilities, strictly adhering to all Humane Handling and Safety guidelines. This role is crucial for daily plant operations, requiring 8-10 hours of work per day, with weekend shifts as needed. The second shift operates from 2:45 pm to 12:30 am.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Experience in safe animal handling practices or willingness to learn about these practices
• Must be able to pass the Pork Checkoff Quality Assurance Test
• Ability to identify risks that could affect the livestock's well-being
• Capability to react quickly to unpredictable livestock behaviors
• Ability to step in and out of pens with gates multiple times a day working in a fast-paced environment
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions including company policies & procedures

Responsibilities

• Handles swine unloading them from semi-trucks and directs them to the barns, while following Humane Animal Handling guidelines
• Moves hogs from barns into the plant
• Maintains the barn facility in a clean and operating order
• Monitors the health of hogs reporting to supervisor of any changes
• Commitment to following safety policies and practices while upholding the company policies and ethical standards
• Collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, and managers by maintaining a positive work atmosphere
