This position is for a Live Fish Collection Manager at the TNR 410 lab, which houses a large variety of freshwater fish used for various courses and research at UW-Stevens Point. The role is held over two semesters, with applications reviewed in March for a Fall Semester start, and summer work also available as fish are kept on campus year-round. The responsibility for the care of these fish lies with the Ichthyology and Aquarium Science Society of Stevens Point (IASSSP). Three managers are responsible for approximately 30 tanks, involving daily cleaning, feeding, condition testing, and monitoring. The team works together to train volunteers, establish a fish care schedule, and offer educational visits to grade schools, interested UWSP student groups, or the public. This dynamic team also offers 3-4 open lab sessions in conjunction with CNR, Biology, or UWSP events such as Admission days, Welcome week, or the Collection Crawl. The job is described as a relaxing, worthwhile opportunity that can provide a career advantage for those interested in aquaria or fisheries.
