Tranter Collection Manager at The Buffalo History Museum, your primary responsibility will involve comprehensive management of the Buffalo Bills Collection and archives, dedicating 60% of your time to this essential task. You will register and assign accession and catalog numbers to artifacts, ensuring meticulous cataloging in accordance with our established registration system. This role includes conducting detailed object research, photographing items, and creating concise descriptions using PastPerfect Web Edition. Additionally, you will process and arrange the Buffalo Bills archival materials according to best practices, while providing optimal storage solutions to ensure artifacts' preservation. Supervising volunteers and interns will also be part of your duties, along with communicating with the donor of the collection about publication requests and research needs. The remaining 40% of your focus will be on support for the larger Museum artifact collection. You'll coordinate inventory work, conduct behind-the-scenes tours, and engage in collections outreach during public events, while also monitoring environmental conditions to safeguard our precious artifacts.
