About The Position

Winstead PC is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Business Litigation Practice Group in the Houston office. Position Summary and Essential Functions Provide secretarial and administrative support to attorneys. Prepare and edit legal documents and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Proofread and cite check briefs. Docket case deadlines. File in state and federal courts. Maintain document management databases. Review, organize, and process client billing in a timely manner. Manage and monitor calendaring of deadlines and key dates. Interact with clients and other contacts regarding scheduling. Prepare conflict of interest checks and open new client files. Prepare engagement letters and conflict waivers. Process expense reports/reimbursement requests. Assist assigned attorneys with CLE compliance and business development activities. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least three years of commercial litigation experience in a law firm.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience working with document management systems.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective interpersonal and teamworking skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism.
  • Availability to work overtime when required.
