About The Position

Advising the Commission's technical staff on all matters relating to the jurisdictional regulation of the oil and gas industry. Work includes evaluating issues and facilitating formulation of technical staff positions; coordinating preparation of testimony; preparing pleadings, motions and briefs; reviewing discovery; providing representation in hearings and pre-hearing conferences including, as necessary, making oral arguments, and examining and cross-examining witnesses.

Requirements

Degree from an accredited law school.
Licensed and in good standing with the Supreme Court of Kansas at the time of appointment.
At least three (3) years of experience in professional legal work preferred, including experience in litigation, government or administrative law settings.
Excellent communication and writing skills are essential.
Candidates must be qualified for admission to practice before the US District Court for the District of Kansas.
Recent graduates will be considered for this position.
Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate required in accordance with Executive Order 2004-03.

Responsibilities

Providing legal advice and assistance to the Commission and/or its representatives concerning procedures, rules, regulations, legislative initiatives, and operations of Commission, including drafting or reviewing and commenting on memoranda, opinions, contracts, and other documents.
