About The Position

The lion leader coordinator, student employee is essential to student success. Throughout New Student Orientation (NSO), the lion leader coordinator contributes to the intellectual and personal growth of new students by offering insight and support before and during the first week of classes and facilitating positive interactions among families and first-year students. Lion leader coordinators lead the lion leaders and are trained to guide new students through important aspects of their transition to Lindenwood University’s academic and student life.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at Lindenwood University
  • Good academic and financial standing with the University
  • Must be available to attend all anticipated dates of employment
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to assist with student move-in and/or event setup
  • Adequately mobile to travel around campus
  • Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function

Responsibilities

  • Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
  • Models, supports, and holds others accountable to the University’s values
  • Co-leads and manages a team of lion leaders through summer and fall NSO programs by providing guidance, feedback, and support
  • Co-leads students through NSO group informational sessions to help them work through their fears, develop important skills, and understand the rigors of college life; leads students and lion leaders through social programming
  • Organizes and conducts lion leader training sessions
  • Serves as the primary point of contact between orientation leaders and University staff, ensuring clear and effective communication
  • Coordinates logistics for orientation events; schedules lion leaders for orientation events
  • Assists incoming students and family members with move-in; answers students’/families’ questions during orientation-related activities
  • Completes all employment paperwork and required online training prior to lion leader training; attends lion leader trainings and participates as a positive team member
  • Assists with various informational and social events throughout orientation-related activities
  • Contributes energy and excitement to the lion leader team; maintains an inclusive and welcoming environment for incoming students
  • Maintains timely attendance for all shifts, sessions, and trainings prior to and throughout orientation-related activities
  • Makes referrals to appropriate resources and communicates with staff throughout orientation-related activities
  • Job may require other duties as assigned.
