About The Position

Linux Technical Program Manager Description - HP Retail and Industrial Solutions Business have a large and growing portfolio. Artificial Intelligence is of increasing importance in market and HP is leading the industry by providing well designed, robust, built for purpose hardware with Linux. This role is responsible for managing support of the Linux OSs across the portfolio. The Linux OS Technical Program manager has a dual role as the subject matter expert on Linux for our business and the program manager for the delivery of the Linux features and software. The TPM will serve as a bridge between the cross functional (HW Engineering, Supply Chain, Product Management) teams and the vendors providing the OS. TPM is the primary technical point of contact between HP and the OS vendors, setting specs, defining test plans, and solving problems. As subject matter expert, the TPM will work with Product Management to tell the story to our customers. TPM will work directly with customers to answer questions and resolve issues.

  • Root cause analysis
  • Hands-on experience with developing and reporting on metrics for engineering development.
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience.
  • Experience with a controlled software release process involving a product lifecycle management tool.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area or demonstrated competence.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert for Linux
  • Certifications and compatibility testing with Linux OS Vendors
  • Understand and manage all the process required to support Linux. BIOS and HW component changes, vendor builds, certifications, HP internal Open Source and privacy reviews.
  • Catch issues from field support teams and lead effort with the vendor to resolve them.
