We are seeking a Linux System Administrator to join our team in support of mission-critical systems for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), responsible for the build, sustainment, and optimization of secure Linux-based environments.

Requirements

  • Must have 8 years of general (full-time) work experience
  • May be reduced with completion of advanced education
  • Must have 5 years of directly related experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting IT systems and virtual machines
  • Must have experience with Multi-Factor Authentication methodologies
  • Must have experience building, configuring, and deploying servers and systems in a virtualized environment
  • Must have administration experience on RHEL 8/9 using the Command Line Interface
  • Must be able to interface with software engineers, system engineers, and subject matter experts to resolve complex integration and technical issues
  • Must have a current DoD approved 8570 Level II certification such as Security+ CE
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Ansible automation
  • Experience configuring and managing NetApp storage devices
  • Experience with security patching and software management using RHEL Satellite
  • Network troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge of Missile Defense and DoD communications systems

Responsibilities

  • Build, configure, deploy, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot virtual and physical servers and systems
  • Ensure system changes are completed in accordance with developer documentation, configuration management, and documentation practices
  • Make recommendations to plan, develop, and execute work plans that achieve critical-path requirements
  • Perform physical inspections and analyze system and event logs to identify issues, trends, and root causes
  • Provide timely updates to team leads, managers, and stakeholders on task status and troubleshooting efforts
  • Install, configure, and manage RHEL and other Linux-based systems
  • Assist integration leads and managers with problem definition, analysis, requirements development, and implementation
  • Advise team members and leadership on system improvements, optimization methods, and process development
  • Use the REMEDY ticketing system to report, track, and document incidents and resolutions
  • Perform evening shift work and weekend duty as needed to support off-hour mission activities
