About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Linux System Administrator to support, maintain, and secure enterprise Linux environments in a classified setting. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience administering Linux systems, supporting mission-critical applications, and working in compliance with DoD and security regulations. As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these are, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), and staying focused on the assigned tasks including company meetings, and completing other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Active Secret Clearance Required (must be current and maintainable)
  • 3+ years of experience as a Linux System Administrator or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of Linux system internals, file systems, and command-line tools
  • Experience with system monitoring, logging, and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with DoD security requirements, STIGs, and RMF processes
  • Scripting experience (Bash, Python, or similar)
  • Ability to work in a classified, regulated environment
  • Must be able to work a hybrid schedule onsite in Norco, CA
  • If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with security policies
  • Strong communication and documentation skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or similar)
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM)
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes)
  • Red Hat certifications (RHCSA, RHCE)
  • Experience supporting systems in a government or defense environment

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and support Linux operating systems (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Rocky, Ubuntu)
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security; proactively resolve issues
  • Apply system patches, updates, and security hardening in accordance with STIGs and organizational policies
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls
  • Support system backups, recovery procedures, and continuity planning
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues
  • Maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, and standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and application teams to ensure system reliability and compliance
  • Participate in on-call or after-hours support as required
