About The Position

Our Client has an immediate opening for a Linux Systems Administrator. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. The Server System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day support of Server services Performs Server administration for Server Operating Systems Performs administration of physical and virtualized servers Responsible for the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardware Configures, maintains and troubleshoots network related interfaces on servers Performs OS and vendor software patching on servers Monitors Physical and Virtual Servers performance using monitoring tools Performs, maintains, troubleshoots and does analysis of alerts on Servers Performs administration of physical and virtualized servers using industry standard technologies Performs administration of servers in lab environments that are physical and virtualized using industry standard technologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Installation, configuration, and management of Linux systems (Red Hat experience preferred)
  • Scripting languages such as bash, Python, Ruby
  • Implementing security requirements
  • STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides), RMF (risk management framework)
  • IO benchmarking frameworks such as fio, bonnie, mdtest, ior
  • Linux BPF tools
  • Storage Area Networks
  • Clustered File Systems
  • Configuration Management tools (Git/GitLab)
  • Kickstart to automate installation of operating system
  • System maintenance such as reviewing logs to resolve software and hardware problems
  • Monitoring and alerting packages such as Nagios and Ganglia
  • TCP/IP, Internet Routing Protocols, private and public networks, VLANs, Firewalls, Load Balancers, addressing schemes, subnet creation and subnet masking
  • A Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems
  • Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems
  • Serves as a front-line interface to users with technical issues
  • Makes recommendations for hardware and software purchases
  • Interacts with third-party technology vendors and internal database staff
  • Conducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies
  • Duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users
  • Performs Server administration for Server Operating Systems
  • Performs administration of physical and virtualized servers
  • Responsible for the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardware
  • Configures, maintains and troubleshoots network related interfaces on servers
  • Performs OS and vendor software patching on servers
  • Monitors Physical and Virtual Servers performance using monitoring tools
