Our work depends on a Lab Engineer joining our team to support Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD. As a Linux Engineer supporting the Government, you will be a part of a team responsible for infrastructure architecture, configuration baselines, future-state planning, automation, and lifecycle management. In this role, a typical day may include: Engineer solutions across virtual and physical platforms, including operating systems, server build deployments, and virtualization technologies to accelerate deployment timelines. Develop and maintain enterprise configuration baselines for servers and clients, including hardware components, software/firmware versions, and device configurations. Design and maintain appliance lab systems that replicate production environments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate emerging technologies and integrate them into DIA's infrastructure roadmap. Respond to Tier 3 support tickets related to engineered systems and platforms, providing expert level troubleshooting and resolution. Strong proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8 and 9) system administration. In-depth knowledge of Red Hat Satellite installation, upgrade, and lifecycle management. Hands-on experience with Ansible for automation, configuration management, and orchestration. Ability to develop and troubleshoot Shell and Bash scripts for operational automation. Solid understanding of system patching, repositories, and content synchronization workflows. Experience working in secure or disconnected environments is a plus. The likely salary range for this position is $144,500 - $195,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Requirements

Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI poly
Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security
Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline + 6 years' experience or the equivalent combination of education, technical certification or training, or work/military experience
Familiarity with monitoring solutions, and enterprise security compliance requirements
Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, OpenStack)
Familiarity with networking concepts, firewalls, and load balancers
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team
Strong proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration
In-depth knowledge of Red Hat Satellite installation, upgrade, and lifecycle management
Ability to develop and troubleshoot shell and bash scripts for operational automation
Solid understanding of system patching, repositories, and content synchronization workflows
