Our work depends on a VMware Engineer joining our team to support Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD. At GDIT, we foster a people-focused and customer-centric environment in delivering Desktop Engineering Services.  As a VMware Engineer supporting the Government, you will be responsible for physical/virtual platforms, server build deployments, server virtualization, hyperconverged platforms, etc.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI poly
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline + 6 years’ experience or the equivalent combination of education, technical certification or training, or work/military experience
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM
  • Proficiency in configuring and optimizing virtual machines, storage, and networking
  • Knowledge with configuration of virtual switches and VLANs

Nice To Haves

  • VMware Certified Professional certification required
  • Ability to learn new virtualization technologies

Responsibilities

  • Designs and builds virtual environment service models including Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service.
  • Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements for the virtualization of and distribution of applications: automating manual processes, optimizing delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
  • Designs, implements, and maintains VMWare vSphere virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and vSAN
  • Analyzes user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications
  • Incorporates new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations
  • Develops system architecture and system design documentation
  • Interacts with the Government regarding technical considerations and regarding associated problems, issues, or conflicts
  • Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility
