About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Linux Administrator with strong experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9) and proven ability to perform in-place upgrades in enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Linux operating system functionality, networking and storage fundamentals, and hands-on experience with Linux command-line tools and scripting languages such as Bash and Python. This role involves supporting system lifecycle management, troubleshooting migration issues related to disk formats and virtual hardware, and contributing to automation initiatives using Ansible. Familiarity with GitHub/GitLab for code review and version control is expected. Exposure to virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere/vCenter, vMotion, and Nutanix AHV is a plus. This position is office-centric 5 days a week in our Atlanta, Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh or Richmond hubs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in development or application support or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • In- depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement best practices.
  • Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function.

  • Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates.

Nice To Haves

  • 3–5 years of experience administering Linux systems in enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of RHEL 7/8/9, including in-place upgrades and patching.
  • Solid understanding of Linux networking (interfaces, VLANs, routing, firewalls) and storage fundamentals (LVM, multipath, filesystems).
  • Proficiency with Linux command-line tools and scripting (Bash; Python preferred).
  • Experience with Ansible for automation and configuration management.
  • Familiarity with GitHub/GitLab and code review processes.
  • Exposure to VMware vSphere/vCenter, vMotion, and vRealize.
  • Familiarity with Nutanix AHV, Nutanix Move, and Commvault tools.
  • Knowledge of SELinux, systemd, and performance tuning.
  • Certifications such as RHCSA/RHCE, VMware VCP, or Nutanix NCP

Responsibilities

  • Perform lifecycle management for RHEL systems, including patching, upgrades, and configuration.
  • Execute in-place upgrades across RHEL environments with minimal downtime.
  • Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks for automation of routine tasks.
  • Write scripts in Bash and Python to support operational workflows.
  • Troubleshoot migration issues related to disk formats and virtual hardware.
  • Support virtualization environments including VMware vSphere/vCenter and Nutanix AHV.
  • Collaborate on code reviews and maintain version control using GitHub/GitLab.
  • Document processes and contribute to team knowledge base.
  • Performs problem tracking, diagnosis and root-cause analysis, replication, troubleshooting, and resolution for complex issues. In this capacity, performs programming and debugging activities.
  • Responds to issues in a timely manner by receiving and investigating incidents or service tickets.
  • Analyzes and observes trends with technical issues and develops recommendations for long- term improvements.
  • Documents all relevant end-user interactions and steps taken to resolve incidents.
  • Has occasional contact with end-users.
  • Communicates status of issue resolution to internal customers.
  • May engage and manage outside vendors.
  • Applies in-depth knowledge of application support and an understanding of best practices.
  • Typically leads moderately complex projects and participates in larger, more complex initiatives.
  • Solves complex technical and operational problems.
  • Acts as a resource for teammates with less experience.
  • May have people management responsibilities for a small team.
