In this position you can expect to work at the Wastewater Building (2000 West 3rd Ave). This team currently works up to 3 days in office. The Division of Transportation Operations is responsible for managing the performance of the transportation infrastructure. Sections within the Division include curbside management, traffic signals, signs and markings, and system operations. As a Line Striper Driver you will: Operate and drive Transportation Operations Line Striping Truck and help direct the Traffic Operation Technician I’s. Be responsible for pre-trip and loading the trucks for each day’s activities Coordinate with the crew lead and operations supervisor if necessary. Practice strong communication skills with other members and management. Perform various tasks associated with street pavement marking projects, which include: measure, lay out, stencil, stripe, paint, and maintain lane lines, center lines, crosswalks, turn arrows, stop bars, parking stalls, curbs, and other pavement, or similar markings Operate paint rigs, walk-behind paint machine, parking or similar striping truck and equipment, which includes: filling tanks with paint and reflector beads, ensures adherence to guidelines and standards governing placement of street markings, programs spray guns, operate gauges and paint pumps, thermal plastic or similar durable markings, and use optical pointer to ensure line accuracy Operate vehicles and performs pre-trip inspection to ensure proper functioning, which includes checking fluid levels, observing leaks, monitoring condition of hoses and belts, checking tire pressure, ensuring brake lights and lights work, and performs other related inspections. Operate equipment and uses tools, to ensure that they are secure, clean, and in proper working order, which includes maintenance and repair Assist in the design, fabrication, and construction of traffic signs and other signs as designated by the unit through the use of computers, and other graphics equipment Observe all common safety practices associated with tools and equipment, monitoring work environment for safety and hazards, and ensures safety for self and others Log, record, and create daily work reports for management using Cartegraph Train and mentor junior level employees in the operation of street signs and pavement markings, and the use of related equipment Light duty snow removal using four-wheel trucks and plows
