About The Position

Temp To Full-Time Hospital Cook – Food & Nutrition Services The Hospital Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals for patients, visitors, and staff while following hospital nutrition guidelines, food safety standards, and infection control policies. This role supports patient care by ensuring meals are prepared accurately, safely, and on schedule.

Requirements

  • Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, institutional, or high-volume kitchen preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper cooking techniques
  • Ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines accurately
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weight
  • ServSafe or food safety certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and hospital menus
  • Follow therapeutic and special diet requirements as directed by dietitians
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices are followed
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas
  • Monitor food temperatures and document according to safety regulations
  • Assist with portioning, plating, and tray assembly for patient meals
  • Work collaboratively with dietary, nursing, and food service staff
  • Report equipment issues or supply shortages to supervisors
  • Follow hospital policies, safety procedures, and infection control standards
