About The Position

Do you believe food is love, and that a perfectly cooked meal can bring immense joy and comfort? Are you seeking a culinary career where your purpose is served alongside every dish? At St. Ives Hometown Living of Johns Creek, our Line Cooks are artists of nourishment, guardians of health, and integral members of the care team. Your skills in the kitchen translate directly into the happiness, dignity, and well-being of our cherished residents. If you want to use your talents to truly help others, come join a kitchen where your efforts are celebrated, and your impact is deeply felt every day. Your Essential Role: Nourishment, Safety, and Connection Your primary responsibility is to execute exceptional, high-quality, and consistent meals for our residents, often including tailored diets essential for their health. The ancillary benefit of this role lies in connecting your culinary expertise with compassionate care. Culinary Preparation & Precision: Prepare all daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) according to standardized recipes, ensuring every plate meets our high standards for flavor, presentation, and quality. Meticulously manage therapeutic and special dietary needs (low sodium, diabetic, pureed, thickened liquids, soft diets), ensuring every resident receives the nourishment prescribed for their optimal health. Handle inventory rotation, food storage, and production scheduling to minimize waste and ensure efficiency, contributing to the overall success of the dining program. While primarily kitchen-focused, you will often interact briefly with residents or caregiving staff who relay feedback. Hearing a compliment about a favorite dish provides immediate, deeply rewarding validation that your work is making them happy. You take extra care with modified texture diets (puree, mechanical soft), understanding that attractive presentation, even for specialized meals, directly contributes to a resident's dignity and desire to eat. You are a critical partner in the health process. Noticing and reporting any shortages in special dietary items, issues with portioning, or potential food safety risks is essential for the care team, ensuring residents are always safe and well-fed. Assist with plating during meal service or deliver a special request to a resident's room. These moments of direct service are opportunities to offer a kind word and see the joy your food brings firsthand. Maintain absolute cleanliness and sanitation in all food preparation and storage areas, strictly following and local health codes. Ensure all kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, fryers, slicers) is safely operated, cleaned, and properly stored. You are a key figure in infection control and safety, ensuring a clean work environment that protects our residents from foodborne illness. You communicate effectively with the Culinary Services Director and the Executive Director collaborating on menu planning, special events, and continuous quality improvement. If your heart is set on a career where your professional skills directly contribute to the comfort, health, and happiness of a grateful community, we invite you to use your culinary talent for a profound purpose.
