About The Position

As the Extension Coordinator, you provide oversight and leadership, including volunteer management, for the Washington State University (WSU) 4 H Youth Development Extension Program in Lincoln and Adams Counties, with a focus on Animal Sciences. The program currently serves more than 300 youth members enrolled in over 14 active clubs and is supported by more than 100 volunteers. You are responsible for implementing programs and activities in accordance with WSU Extension policies and procedures, working under the direction of the Lincoln County Extension Director and the State 4 H Associate Director. Additional Information: This is a part time (50% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible. Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end 1 year from date of hire. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Monthly Salary: $1,875.43 - $2,287.10 at 50% FTE ( $3,750.85 - $4,574.20 at 100% FTE ) | Commensurate with experience and qualifications In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Related program experience includes academic or volunteer acquired skills, knowledge, and training in education, social science, counseling, youth development, volunteer management, program development, agricultural education, agricultural sciences, or related field. Related program experience also includes past Extension, 4-H or FFA experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with frequent evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the program.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
  • Ability to remain alert while driving for long distances while traveling around the multi-county area.
  • Travel is expected on a year-round basis including possible overnight travel to various locations outside the area within targeted counties.
  • Ability to work year round in a variety of outdoor weather conditions, in solitary in remote locations.

  • Extended teaching experience in informal or formal (i.e., school) settings.
