Areas of Responsibility and Job Requirements: Oversees the Compliance team Coordinator & Specialists. Leads and directs the work of others to ensure compliance needs are met. In addition, has a portfolio of their own units to complete recertifications and the list of other items under Compliance Specialist 3 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in affordable housing/recertification or property management experience in affordable housing
  • 3+ years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office MS Excel, required
  • Proficiency in Yardi Affordable is required
  • Tax Credit Certification is required
  • General knowledge of property management department functions such as: A/P and A/R, various housing subsidies, rent stabilization, leases, site marketing, and unit leasing is required
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Must have excellent communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual is a plus (Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Review Compliance Specialists work and assign work (i.e. - mailing of recert/self-cert requests, reviewing additional info letters against files, etc.)
  • Complete full annual LIHTC recertifications for properties within their portfolio.
  • Reviewing Compliance Specialists & Compliance Coordinators work for accuracy and readiness (i.e. – spot checking working folders for completeness or TICs prior to agency audits and responses)
  • Provide guidance to various departments within the organization
  • Assist in the reviewing of files prior to agency audits and/or the upload of files for desk audits
  • Assist in responding to various agency audits and/or requests
  • Meet with residents as needed (i.e. – to discuss incorrect lease charges, changes to household composition, maintenance requests, etc.)
  • Assist in reviewing lease charge discrepancies and provide analysis/corrective actions to Lease Renewal Manager and Accounting
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reporting.
  • Approve timesheets and PTO days.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned/needed
