About The Position

The Lightning Protection Installation Technician is responsible for the coordination and installation of LPI projects. The purpose of the role is to install lightning protection and grounding systems on a variety of structures across all forms of private, public, industrial, commercial & Data Centre sectors. The role ensures that systems comply with US standards such as NFPA 780, UL 96A and LPI-175 standards and that all components from roof to ground are installed correctly and functioning. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our company's success. This role requires travel for up to 75% of working time to support project delivery.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working within construction or electrical industry or in a similar environment
  • Experience working on commercial and industrial projects.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and follow detailed installation standards.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and construction site practices.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications from the Lightning Protection Institute (LPI) or UL are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Install lightning protection systems, including air terminals, conductors, bonding, grounding, and coordinate with electrical contractors for surge protection component installation ensuring they meet national standards.
  • Inspect and test existing systems to verify proper function and compliance with industry standards.
  • Diagnose faults, perform repairs, and upgrade systems to current standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Work at heights on roofs, ladders, and scaffolding to install system components.
  • Document inspections, maintenance activities, and installation details for compliance reporting.
  • Communicate with project managers, contractors, and building owners about system requirements and findings.
  • Follow OSHA safety regulations and construction site protocols.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and materials required for installation and testing.
  • Participate in structured on‑the‑job training as part of the recognised apprenticeship pathway (5,000–8,000 hours)
