About The Position

The Light-Duty Lead Mechanic provides technical leadership and oversight to the other Light-Duty Mechanics, assigning daily work tasks, monitoring workflow, and ensuring repairs and preventive maintenance are completed efficiently, safely, and to standard. This role serves as a working lead, performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on light diesel vehicles and equipment, including Ford pickups, buses, UTVs, and stationary equipment, while mentoring mechanics and supporting skill development. The Lead Mechanic acts as a liaison between the shop floor, Service Writer, and Shop Foreman to prioritize workload, minimize downtime, and maintain productivity. Responsibilities include reviewing and completing work orders, maintaining accurate service records, enforcing safety and quality procedures, and promoting accountability and teamwork within the department.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid (U.S issued) Driver's License is required.
  • A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
  • The ability to work 87.5 hours a week on a 2x2 rotation is required.
  • At least five (5) years of experience as a Light-Duty Mechanic performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and accomplishing both minor and major repairs on vehicles and equipment to include but not limited to: Ford 4x4 diesel pickups, Kubota UTV's, Bobcat equipment, Thomas busses, Lincoln welders, and others is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) or more years of experience working in the Alpine field is preferred.
  • Any Ford Diesel certifications are preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience is preferred.
  • Experience with FleetFocus is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor's personnel under their leadership
  • Inspect light vehicles and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Repair light construction vehicles and equipment such as large volume pumps and compressors, passenger vans, light duty pickup trucks, welding trucks, medium duty service trucks, and other auxiliary equipment.
  • Adjust, repair, and replace engines, fuel systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, breaks, suspension, steering, and transmissions.
  • Disassemble and assemble vehicles and equipment parts using hoists, hand tools, pneumatic and electric tools, and instruments.
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including lubrication and oil changes in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment to diagnose and ensure operating efficiency.
  • Prepare and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance records.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and the general work area.
  • Supervise apprentice workers engaged in light vehicle and equipment repair work.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
