About The Position

Lift Mechanic I Position Summary Pajarito Mountain Ski Area is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Lift Mechanic I to join our Mountain Operations team. This entry-level position supports the maintenance, operation, and inspection of aerial and surface lifts to ensure safe and reliable guest access. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and a passion for working in a mountain environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic mechanical knowledge or hands-on experience (automotive, industrial, farm, or similar)
  • Ability to work at heights and in physically demanding conditions
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, and evenings
  • Strong attention to safety and detail
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in steep, uneven terrain
  • Valid driver’s licens

Nice To Haves

  • Previous ski area experience
  • Familiarity with tools, machinery, and mechanical systems
  • Basic electrical or hydraulic knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily, weekly, and seasonal inspections of chairlifts and surface lifts
  • Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, and minor repairs on lift systems and components
  • Support troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems under supervision
  • Assist with rope evacuations and emergency procedures as required
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and inspection records
  • Follow all safety standards, OSHA guidelines, and manufacturer requirements
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including cold, wind, and snow
  • Assist other mountain operations departments as needed
