They will review and complete the required daily paperwork and will always be in full uniform while working. Lift Attendants will assist lift maintenance staff in starting and clearing the lifts for daily operations. Being a Lift Attendant is an outside job in all types of harsh winter weather that may involve long periods of standing. The job will require early morning starts and heavy snow shoveling. Lift Attendants must be proficient at skiing or snowboarding.

Requirements

  • Lift Attendants must be proficient at skiing or snowboarding.
  • Able to remain standing outside in all weather conditions.
  • Lift Operators will be expected to shovel an extremely large amount of snow throughout their employment at MTB.
  • Minimum education required: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Minimum time in related position: 1 full season as a Lift Operator.
  • Minimum Age Requirement: 18+

Responsibilities

  • Lift start-up and operation.
  • Set up and tear down of crowd control mazes.
  • Load and unload guests at each station.
  • Maintain maze areas, loading ramps, and unloading ramps.
  • Keep required records in the daily log book.
  • Maintain clean lift shacks, empty trash, and remove new stickers daily.
  • Report lift maintenance and turnstile issues.
  • Provide continuous guest service.
  • Effectively communicate while organizing a large crowd.
  • Direct guests safely and efficiently through lift lines.
  • Assist with ticket/pass issues and report fraud.
  • Assist in snow removal throughout the mountain.
  • Demonstrate success in safety awareness.
  • Skiing or snowboarding in a safe, professional manner.
  • Morning lift setup and lift starting
  • Arrive in the locker room on time and participate in the morning meeting.
  • Receive lift starting clearance from the supervisor or maintenance.
  • Follow the starting procedure for each lift.
  • Ensure that the line ride is complete before loading guests.
  • Have the lift ready for guests at opening time.
  • Set up perimeter ropes and signs.
  • Set up mazes and crowd control areas.
  • Maintain setup throughout the day.
  • Clean snow and ice from chairs and around work areas.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain loading and unloading ramps
  • Morning loading ramp set up.
  • Keep the load/unload ramps surfaces smooth and free of obstacles.
  • Maintain the pit area beginning with the defined end of the ramp and upkeep throughout the day.
  • Groom ramps constantly throughout the day to assist guests in loading and unloading.
  • Take extra time to groom ramps at the end of the day, leaving them ready for the next day's opening.
  • Maintain area under and around stop gates at the top, and “wait here” gates at the bottom.
  • Inform the supervisor/lead when grooming cat work is necessary to fix a ramp.
  • Records and Reports
  • Daily Lift Operation Log is a legal document to be filled out completely each day.
  • Complete Lift Log, and review Lift Logs before submitting them to your supervisor.
  • Maintain Lift Report of mechanical issues and ensure that Maintenance personnel have checked off and logged items.
  • Make sure information on Lift Incident Reports is congruent with information on Lift Logs and submit them to the supervisor for inspection.
  • Lift station maintenance and housekeeping
  • Keep lift shacks clean and tidy.
  • Keep snow and ice cleared from around the lift station area.
  • Turn lost and found into Concierge.
  • Keep turnstiles, gantries, and other equipment free of stickers.
  • Remove trash from all receptacles, both top and bottom stations.
  • Loading passengers and Guest Service – Lift Bottom Station
  • Perform crowd control and organize guests into groups.
  • Monitor and assist each guest as they load the chair.
  • Make eye contact and greet each guest as they load.
  • Assist Patrol and guests with special loading needs.
  • Give guests loading instructions.
  • Check the loaded chair as it leaves the terminal to be sure passengers are seated properly.
  • Slow or stop the chair as necessary for guest safety.
  • Always be in uniform when at your workstation.
  • Unloading and Guest Service – Lift Top Station
  • Monitor each passenger as they approach the unload area and exit the chair.
  • Assist patrol.
  • Sweep snow from chairs at the top station.
  • Monitor weather conditions at the top, and inform the supervisor of any changing conditions.
  • Slow or stop the chair as necessary for guest safety.
  • Follow the downloading procedure.
  • Be outside the lift shack when the weather permits.
  • Assist guests if they have fallen on the unload ramp.
  • Always be in uniform when at the workstation.
  • Lift Inspections
  • Line Ride must be done before loading guests daily.
  • Check sheaves and alignment of assemblies, possible obstacles to the lift line, Haul Rope, Chairs, Grips, AM, and every time you ride any lift at Mt. Bachelor.
  • Check the proper operation of all controls before opening.
  • Log inspections in the daily log.
  • Report problems to the lift maintenance and the lift supervisor.
  • Follow the Last Chair Procedure precisely.
  • Teamwork
  • Be in the locker room on time when scheduled to work.
  • Share the work with other operators.
  • Follow the MTB appearance standard at all times.
  • Monitor and be fair during break and lunch times.
  • Use teamwork skills to work together, avoiding conflicts.
  • Assist other departments.
  • Assist in snow removal projects around the resort.
  • Experienced operators assist in training new operators.
  • Assist other departments.
