About The Position

Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation is an accredited, gold medal award-winning agency with over 45 full-time professionals and over 300 seasonal and part-time staff who provide the Lee's Summit community with dozens of quality recreational opportunities. EOE Employment at LSPR guarantees the opportunity to learn communication and organizational skills, professionalism, and civic responsibility while building outstanding personal and work relationships. $15.15/hourly Responsible for maintaining a constant vigilance of swimmers, performing actions to save lives, prevent accidents and incidents, initiating and promoting good water safety habits, and assisting in the operation and maintenance of the assigned aquatics facility.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 15 years of age
  • Must possess valid American Red Cross lifeguard certification (available through LSPR after hire)
  • Must possess valid Basic first aid, CPR and AED certification (available through LSPR after hire.)

Responsibilities

  • Perform the functions of a lifeguard according to established procedures and practices and in accordance with formal training and certification.
  • Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; act immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
  • Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Enforces facility rules and regulations; takes appropriate action in the event of patron incidents.
  • Monitor weather conditions and water conditions for signs of danger or hazard; take appropriate steps to preserve the safety and well-being of patrons and others in the area of responsibility.
  • Prepares and maintains appropriate reports.
  • Assist in the planning, preparation, implementation and evaluation of aquatics activities.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the aquatics facility.
  • Maintains safety by following LSPR guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and mandatory in-service training sessions as scheduled.
  • Ensures enforcement of rules and regulations of LSPR.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
