About The Position

Lake of the Pines Homeowners Association (LOPA) is accepting applications for the position of Lifeguard. We are looking for qualified applicants for our 2026 season for the months of April – October. Lake of the Pines is a 2,000-home gated private community located in the foothills of Northern California between the towns of Auburn and Grass Valley. This is a Seasonal position with a salary range of $18.06 - $20.54 per hour. Pre-employment background search (if applicable) required following conditional offer of employment. Schedule: We are open mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Hours of operation expanded during the summer months. Must be available to work holidays and weekends. Must be available for three shifts per week, at minimum. Summer shifts may begin as early as 7:30 a.m. and end as late as 9:30 p.m., with shifts that vary. Shifts are generally 4-7 hours each.

Requirements

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification is required.
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED/First Aid Certificates must be current.
  • Move/ lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Open availability and able to work during the schedule described above.
  • Minimum age: 16 years old with valid work permit
  • Ability to work well independently with integrity and as a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Aquatics, babysitting, working with children, adults, and seniors
  • Familiar with Aquatic Programming

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safety of all patrons in the aquatic facility.
  • Prevent accidents with a proactive approach to enforcing the pool rules.
  • Respond to emergencies, provide first aid, care for injuries and always perform rescues as needed within your scope of training.
  • Rescue swimmers in distress according to training and within scope of practice and certification.
  • Lifeguard during the Instruction Programs such as Swim Lessons, Water Fitness classes, and Swim Team practices, meets and community events.
  • May also assume a Pool Monitor role outside of Lifeguarding hours.
  • Enforce all Pool and Association rules.
  • Observe daily sanitation requirements by checking pool water conditions for chlorine and PH (acidity) content as prescribed.
  • Notify supervisor if chemicals are not within limits.
  • Maintain daily log of pool water test conditions for the inspection of local health agency.
  • Install and remove lane lines, pool covers, diving blocks and chair lifts, as necessary.
  • Supervise and observe swimmers in the pool area to ensure their continual safety.
  • Process sales, accept payments, reconcile cash drawer, request change, report overage or shortages, calculate sales and drop bank daily.
  • Maintain cleanliness and healthfulness of pool area including restroom facilities.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and take directions.
